Direction mattered when it came to game mechanics, and the movement of the kraken on the board. I thought it would be neat if the miniature had a triangular base

The client wasn't sure how "abstract" of a player piece they wanted- they also wanted something reminiscent of a wood carving (but would ultimately be made of plastic).

Player pieces / sailors are often being knocked off their ships by the kraken- client requested fearful poses.
At this point the project was shelved.
